EVANS, Ga. - Entered into rest Thursday, March 6, 2008, Deacon Bennie Avery, Jr., of Fury Ferry Rd., Evans. Deacon Avery was a native of Columbia County and was a member of Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church, Evans. Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Zerlenea Avery; a devoted stepson, Robert Garnett; four sisters, Marie Smith, Atlanta, Carol Roscoe, Catherine Smith, Hattie M. Avery, Augusta; two brothers, Rev. James D. Avery, Wade Avery, Augusta; two grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 11 a.m. from Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Ramsey officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the residence or the funeral home. The Historic Dent's Undertaking Establishment serving the CSRA since the 1800's.
