AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Norman Smith entered into rest April 24, 2008 at the Golden Living Center-Windermere Nursing Home, Augusta, Ga. Norman attended the public schools of Richmond County and graduated from Lucy C. Laney High School in 1958. He retired from the New York Police Department after 30 years of service. He was a dedicated member of the Lucy C. Laney Booster Club and the Augusta Chapter of the A. Phillip Randolph Institute. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with Dr. Gregory M. Fuller officiating. Burial will be at the Walker Memorial Park Cemetery. He leaves to cherish his memory, his brother, Moses (Betty) Dunn, Augusta; sister-in-law, Louise Smith, Augusta; four nephews, Frank A. Smith, Jr., Chicago, Ill., Carlvel (Linda) Smith, Martinez, devoted nephew, Tyrone Dunn and Edward Smith, Augusta; six nieces, Carolyn D. Smith, Atlanta, GA., Vanci Brandon-Smith, Powder Spring, Ga., Amanda D. Smith, Pittsburg, Pa., Lezettra (Willie) Saunders, Martinez, devoted and care giving niece, Artenzer Dunn, Augusta and Taschovia Smith, Knoxville, Tenn.; aunt, Beatrice Dunn, Augusta; great-nephews and nieces; a dear and devoted cousin, Johnnie Mae Armstrong, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Sabrina Evans, Augusta; and a host of other loving and devote relatives and friends.
