Mustangs manhandle Predators

Highlights from the first half of the Midland Valley vs. Fox Creek game.


Play of the game: Midland Valley quarterback Marquett Carr faked a handoff and dodged two tackles en route to a 40-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the first quarter.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Carr put in a stellar performance, rushing for 106 yards and four touchdowns and also throwing for 86 yards.

WHY FOX CREEK LOST: The Predators (0-3) were not able to handle the speed of Carr and running back Cordes Pressley , who finished with 109 yards on 11 carries.

WHY MIDLAND VALLEY WON: Aside from some dropped passes and one fumble, the Mustangs (2-1) manhandled the overmatched Predators. They scored three times in a two-minute span at the end of the second quarter.

QUOTABLE: "We want to execute and work out some kinks," Midland Valley coach Rick Knight said. "We dropped a couple of passes."

NEXT: Fox Creek at C.A. Johnson, 7:30 p.m., Thursday; Midland Valley at Silver Bluff, 7:30 p.m., Friday.
