Police are trying to identify two thieves who have been caught on video digging through the trash can outside Target for receipts then using them to return items they never purchased.

The thieves are identified as a white man and woman of about 40 years old, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s report.

Loss prevention officials at Target on Robert C. Daniel Jr. Parkway told police that on Jan. 14 and Jan. 22 the people entered the store carrying nothing.

They then picked up dog food on one occasion and a George Foreman Grill and toaster oven on the other and returned them using what authorities believe were receipts from other customers.

They were seen leaving in a silver or gray car, possibly an Oldsmobile, bearing a tag number of BEH4092.

Anyone with information on the suspects can call the sheriff’s office at (706) 823-1080.
